My path has never been very linear
I’m Dayanna Cardenas, a Colombian Product Designer based near Paris. My first professional experience was in clinical psychology in Colombia, working with patients in supervised settings. It taught me to listen carefully, to work with partial information and to understand someone in their own context.
I moved to France in 2020, studied digital strategy, and spent around two years in digital project management at Studi. Then I moved into Product Design at Société Générale / SG Markets, working with business, Product, IT and Design teams, often across countries and in English.
The job titles changed more than the way I work. I tend to ask questions first, spend time understanding how things actually happen, connect the perspectives around the table and then make the next step concrete enough for people to react to it.
That’s also why I like moving between different parts of the work: talking with people, mapping a workflow, designing the interface and following implementation. They aren’t separate stages for me; they are different ways of understanding the same product. I use AI when it genuinely helps me research, structure information, prototype or move an idea forward.

what I tend to bring to a team
I ask questions before I design
I need enough context to understand how the work actually happens, what people need and what is already constrained.
I like untangling workflows
Rules, handoffs, exceptions and dependencies are often where I’m most useful.
I make things concrete
A map, flow, prototype or interface helps turn a discussion into something the team can react to and build.
I connect different points of view
I’m comfortable moving between users, business, Product, Design and technical teams, in Spanish, French or English.
Off the clock
There is another part of the story outside work: Colombia and France, the origin of Day, the places I stop to photograph, drawing, family projects and things I’m still learning.
